Curator’s Tour of Wilhelmina Barns-Graham: A Scottish Artist in St. Ives

This event will be a curator’s introduction to Barns-Graham herself, the themes of the show and to individual works of art, given by Lynne Green.
Lynne is an expert in British Modernism and contemporary art, and the author of W. Barns-Graham: A Studio Life. She is the curator of our Barns-Graham show and has written the essay for the catalogue that accompanies it.


Barns-Graham Charitable Trust Lecture

The Barns-Graham Charitable Trust was established in 1987 by the Scottish artist Wilhelmina Barns-Graham (1912-2004). The main objectives of the Trust are threefold: to protect and promote her name and art; to support students of art and art history with grants and bursaries; to retain her home, Balmungo House, as a place of creativity with residencies for artists and writers. The talk will focus on the artist’s legacy, Balmungo House and the Trust’s activities.

A Line of Drawing Curator’s Tour at Art First

Art First was the principal gallery to represent Barns-Graham during the final, highly productive, decade of her life. They are delighted to present A Line of Drawing 1943-1993, a remarkable collection of works by the artist spanning a fifty year period. The event will include a chance to view the exhibition with a glass of wine, followed by an in depth tour by an Art First curator.

Informal ‘In Focus’ lunchtime talks are given by a member of the gallery staff at The Fleming Collection. There is no need to book and places are not limited. Please note no seating is provided. Lunchtime talks in Gallery One are free. Lunchtime Talks in Gallery Two are free with an admission ticket.
